A legend goes that during the Zhen Guan Reign of the Great Tang Dynasty, Princess Wencheng was about to marry the Tibetan hero Songtsan Gambo, when the Princess turned back her head to look into the east, a drop of tears of homesickness rolled out of her eyes. The drop of tears was transformed into emerald Guanyin; it then was changed into a long river that links the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and the landscape in the southeast. Someone says that it is the Princess’ profound passion for homeland, whereas some other person maintains it is the long Hatha that Songtsan Gambo has contributed to the equally heroic Tang emperor. No matter what, the long river is Nu River.
There is a guess. In his immortal poem "Inquiry of the Heaven", Qu Yuan, a great poet of the Chu state in late Warring States period, wrote such a stanza in this poem: "Where is the Sanwei Mount? And where is the mysterious site of Black water? "Over two thousand years, after exhausting study and research for generations, scholars have finally proved that: Sanwei refers to Biluo Snow Mountain, and Black water refers to the Nu River.
There is a fantasy. In his book entitled "Discovery of the Holy Continent", Fu Yongfa, a contemporary geographic and cartographic scholar, concluded that: All sorts of miracles recorded in the Classics of the Legends whose true faces have been long lost, also point to the Nu River.
There is an important figure. More than one hundred years ago, A French explorer Prince Henri Orleans twice crossed the Nu River Grand Valley, with his elegant and delicate style of writing, he conveyed the information about the Nu River Grand Valley to the distant West, then group after group of Western missionaries came in, they brought the Bible and God's blessing with them. Therefore, in addition to the chanting of Buddhist prayers, here became a heavenly pure land filled with holy chanting of the Christian choir.
There is a period of history that cannot be forgotten. In 1942, the Chinese expeditionary force known as "ten thousand young men, ten thousand armaments" crossed the Nu River and the Burmese border to fight the war against Japanese invaders. After losing the battle, part of the expeditionary force retreated into India, Others returned to the east bank of Nu River and formed a strong line of defense, and they kept the crazily attacking Japanese army out of the line of defense, so as to ensure the safety of the greater rear area. In 1944, hundreds of thousands of troops forced to cross the Nu River, they launched a victorious offensive against the Japanese army entrenched in the area west of the Nu River and within the Myanmar territory and thoroughly washed away the shame of the past. This is a heroic river.
There is a long list. The film "A Lost River" made by Film Master Evans of the Netherlands, a Japan's NHK documentary "Wind's Bridge", Tian Zhuangzhuang's film "Dram" and Hao Yuejun's TV series "the Last Caravan", they all tell the story of the Nu River, whether within the country or abroad, they have received numerous awards.
There is a basic fact. The huge natural resources and unique cultural resources of the Nu River have been identified. Between the high mountains and the long rivers, the high pitched multi-part unaccompanied chorus of the Lisu people, the lightly touching cuocuo dance of the Pumi people, the butterfly tattoos on the faces of the Dulong people, all these have long been renowned overseas and have become proof of human civilization.
There is a myth. For all the population experiencing material poverty, their inner world must be a desolate wilderness. All about the Nu River will tell you: That is not true. Whether it is the Lisu juvenile embracing the four-string instrument, or the Nu ethnic girl dancing lightly up there, they would rather say that their joy is not only derived from material reasons.
Nu River is not the world's Number One, but her peerless independent indulging has its own charm.
Dear friend, do you want to come to share the charm of this enchanting place with the Nu River people?
If you pack up and come following the caravan described in the legend, the Nu River and the Third Goddess of the Everest will open their arms holding high the golden trophy to welcome you, by that time, all the fresh flowers of the Nu River will be in full bloom to welcome you.
