多伦路这条不长的路有着令国人难以忘怀的文化景观，左联纪念馆、景云里等文化遗址在全国都是赫赫有名，内山书店、公啡咖啡馆遍布了鲁迅、郭沫若、茅盾、冯雪峰、叶圣陶等众多文化名人的足迹，同时孔祥熙公馆、白崇禧公馆、汤恩伯公馆等保存完好的现代欧陆建筑群，更使多伦路成了海派建筑的露天博物馆，在弥漫着浓浓怀旧氛围的多伦路上，这五年来，却悄然矗立起一座深灰色外立墙面和黑红门头交相辉映的上海多伦现代美术馆，“传承历史文脉，创新当代艺术”，是多伦美术馆的办馆理念，这个理念给了“一条多伦路，百年上海滩”的文化底蕴，又增加了现代艺术的气息。
当你步 入多伦文化名人街，必然可以感悟到一些属于“时光”的记忆，这成为了多伦路景观的核心，上百年来虹口“雅文化圈”存在过的思想观念、历史传统、社会习俗、聚居方式、地方情感构成了多伦路的“灵魂”，多伦路最具号召力的文化品牌就是这里的左联。当时参加左联的作家们用现在的眼光看，均是当时的先锋作家，是都市青年中的前卫，多元文化在多伦路得以并存共荣。时至今日，代表着时代先锋精神和进步文化方向的“左联精神”不仅仅存活在历史教科书和遗址遗迹中，通过扶植性政策导向，开发新视觉艺术、数字娱乐、多媒体产业、时尚产业等一系列的新兴创业园区，我们要建立起糅合传统与现代、精致与大众的，既扎根大众又能引领大众的在商业与品位之间取得良好平衡的文化，这方面的典型代表就是中国第一家政府背景社会参与的专业性现代美术馆“上海多伦现代美术馆”，它继承了“左联精神”的前卫思想，用全新的模式打造出一个中国当代艺术的专业美术馆，已经成为前卫和先锋艺术的交流展示场所。它的存在，不仅对多伦路的文化是个创新，也是文化市场经营体制、运作模式、业务流程等一系列的制度和体制创新，同时，在功能上看，它也将是多伦路二期开发旅游观光区、创意产业区、文娱会展区、精品文化区四大功能区块之间的有效联结。
我们相信，在未来的3年至5年，上海虹口以历史沉淀为基础，以海派文化为特色，以名人文化为灵魂，以创意产业为支柱，以国际文化社区为目标，将在上海城市发展中实现海派文化的创新与提升。2010年的上海世博会是一个科技、经济的博览会，虹口要凭借丰厚的历史积淀和文化内涵，冲击上海都市休闲文化产业的制高点，将虹口打造成上海国际大都市文化展示区，以丰富世博会文化展示的内涵，与科技、经济博览相映生辉。我们期望通过世博会这扇“世界之窗”，透过“多伦5年”这缕清风，吹开“多伦之门”，凝固“多伦记忆”，展现一个魅力无限的“文化虹口”。（文章来源：《多伦5年---中国当代艺术回顾》

Last Hundred years, Hongkou “elite’s culture circle” has had the concepts, historical traditions, social customs, way of lives and local sentiment; it constructs Doulun road’s “soul”. The most appeal Duolun Road is the cultural brand of Leftist here. All of the Left writers are Pioneer and the avant-garde of urban youth and multi-cultural co-exist in Doulun road.
