序言
如果，人类只能选择一种表情，人们会选择笑；
如果，上海世博会只能用一种表情来诠释，那一定就是笑容。
笑，在这里，已经成为一种常态、一种习惯，挥之不去。
饱览景观的自足，尽享人文的陶醉，故知相逢的惊喜，家庭人伦的欢愉……只要进入世博园区，笑，就始终伴随着每一个人每一种肤色每一张脸。你笑了，你很快又被笑所包围；他笑了，他很快又会把笑传递给周围的人群……
没有刻意，毫无拘束，不论男女，不论老幼，笑，就像是随风飘荡的蒲公英种子，到处播撒，随处绽放；笑，就像是一个不断扩大的涟漪，向外波动，无限延伸……如此开朗，如此坦率，这前人向往已久而不能得的笑，在区区数平方公里的世博园区，在阳光下，灿烂若花。
并不是偶然的发现。从东到西，从入口到展区，从旭日初升到华灯齐放，这里，每一个场馆都是一片最独特的笑的土壤，每一个人就是一个笑的酵母。笑，随处触发，随时传递，它是这184个日夜最丰富的展览……人们笑着回眸历史，笑着指点未来，笑着把记忆带回世界各地，又带入一个个家庭一个个梦乡……笑脸，让瞬间成为永恒；城市，让生活更加美好。
多样中求和谐，多元中寻大同。笑，不仅是一种难以掩饰的欢悦，更是一种发自内心的共识—理解、宽容和沟通。这是一个最睿智的选择，也是一个最必然的选择。只有在这个大时代、大变革之中，大胸襟、大智慧之下，我们才能共有一个大写的名词—人类，地球才能成为共同的家园，和谐才能成为最真实的世界之梦。
无数的人来了，带来了世界的梦想；无数的人又走了，带走了将存留一生的印象。仅仅1000天，劳动者们用汗水和智慧建起了一座叹为奇迹的新城；仅仅184天，参观者们用足迹丈量着人类的文明精华，追逐着未来的发展之路。时间很短暂，空间却无限。东道主殷勤待客的笑脸，参观者尽情享受的笑脸，工作者热忱服务的笑脸，志愿者真诚自豪的笑脸……这一张张笑脸汇聚成一片欢乐的海洋，这一张张笑脸汇聚成明日的希望。世界，在这里展示文明；中国，在这里敞开怀抱；人们，在这里开始新的出发。
让我们感谢中国2010年上海世博会的每一个参与者，感谢用镜头来传递快乐的每一个记录者，他们创造了奇迹，他们记录了奇迹。这些充满个性的瞬间、这些洋溢快乐的画面，已经构成最为独特的文化样本。
笑脸已留在今天，而欢乐则将照耀每一个明天，因为我们是一家人，因为我们共有一切的光荣和梦想。
Preface
If people could only have one expression, they would surely choose to smile.
If Expo Shanghai could only be described with one emotion, surely that would be smiling faces.
The smile here is a natural response, and a habitual reaction from the bottom of our heart to happiness.
Who would not put on a happy face as we marvel at the splendid pavilions and enjoy their rare and great exhibits with our families and friends?
No matter the age, no matter the color, happiness is on every face. He smiles. She smiles. It can be infectious, and in no time are we surrounded by a sea of smiling faces.
A smile is like a dandelion in a gentle wind. A wafting breeze can spread its seeds afar.
A smile is like ripples on a pond. They calmly coax each other forward.
Such are the smiles captured in this book of photos taken in the Expo Park.
They’re sunny and candid, the kind of smiles that surf the beams from the bottom of one’s heart. And they’re not difficult to find.
From the entrance to pavilions, from sunrise to sunset, wherever and whenever, people are smiling at each other in their Expo journey. They retrospect the history. They look ahead. They share their memories with friends from every corner of the world with a knowing smile.
A smile is an expression of joy that comes from a state of mind.
So when different people from different places find a way to communicate, reach an understanding and put aside differences to work together for the future, they smile.
We realize that only through co-operation can we have a better city and better life as we live together under the same sky.
When people visit the Expo, they bring their dreams. When they leave, they take home lifelong memories.
In only 1,000 days, the Expo builders created a marvelous new city. And in 184 days, visitors from around the world were able to appreciate different civilizations .
The Expo event has a time limit, but its influence is infinite.
Shanghai put on its best clothes and its biggest smiles for the Expo. So did the Expo workers and volunteers. Their hard work and eagerness to provide the best possible experience have been rewarded by the satisfaction and happiness of all visitors.
We would like to thank everyone who helped to make the World Expo 2010 Shanghai China a success. We also are grateful to every photographer for their contributions to this project.
The images captured by their lenses will be treasured for their cultural and historical value.
