序言
PREFACE
苍天之下，厚土之上，有泱泱云山与汤汤大河，日月在这里盈昃，寒暑在这里往来，而终于人文肇迹，以华夏为
名，历上古三代秦汉魏晋隋唐宋元明清，演绎出千百年的辉煌绚烂。它是先民们体道自然的殚思竭虑，浸润了我们民
族最恒久的心灵。文明的进程就是人的思想的进程，人是思想的存在，而思想又通过文化和艺术传播，从而为集合的
人群所共知，成为社会的集体存在，推动历史的进程。这就是人类的文明史，也是人类的社会史。
现代中国，受商业文明的熏染，受科技和传媒的浸濡，中国人在思想上比历史上的任何时期都要走得更远，文明
和社会都达到了一个全新的高度。这个时候，我们需要重新建立起文化自信，要创造我们这个时代的新文明，促进时
代的发展。在这样一个历史进程当中，北京菜市口百货股份有限公司(以下简称“菜百”)带着强烈的社会责任感和文
化使命感，致力于时代和社会的前行。

IN REMEMBRANCE
Between the vault of heaven and ashes on the ground, there are towering mountains and
insurgent rivers; moon and sun chase each other while winter and summer take duty in turn. With
dynasties of Xia, Shang, Zhou, Qin, Han, Wei, Jin, Sui, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing lasting
for thousands of years, Chinese culture has established itself as one of the most brilliant human
civilizations in the world. It is the fruit of our ancestors’ reflection over the natural world,
nourishing the mindset of our nation permanently. The progress of civilization depends on the
development of human thoughts, which get around through cultural and artistic communication and
exchanges, reaching people as collected social groups and hence promoting history to move
forward. The history of human culture is also the history of human societies.
In modern China, influenced by commercial culture, science and technology and mass media,
Chinese people have gained a view broader than they had during any historical period, while
Chinese culture and society both have reached a fresh new level of development. Nowadays, we need
to reestablish our cultural confidence, renew our civilization in accordance with the need of our
age, and promote innovation and progresses. At this particular historical stage, Caibai ( Beijing
Caishikou Department Store Co., Ltd ) is dedicated to contribute to the progress of time and
society with its strong sense of social responsibility and cultural mission.
Chinese people have a special emotion for the jade and jewelry culture, which influences the
life of everyone and is reflected in various aspects of social life such as politics, thinking,
culture and religion. It’s one of the most important and long-lasting parts that consist of the
Chinese culture, leaving its mark at every step made by the nation to march forward over
thousands of years. Besides regular running of businesses, Caibai also concerns for and
participates in events that help carrying forward traditional culture. The modern age is
witnessing a prosperous country, peaceful civil life, appearance of numberless artistic masters
and masterpieces, varied artistic schools and both art and thoughts have developed into an
unprecedented level in history. Caibai takes a sharp vision to appreciate the artistic
achievements of our age, give full play to its advantages to collect exquisite artworks so that
they can be passed down to carry forward tradition and inspire new generations, and record our
age from a perspective of society, art, culture and history. This is responsibility held by
Caibai for traditional culture, for the age and for the coming generations.
Art of Caibai Collection include volumes on gold, nephrite, jadeite, gem and collections of
master or designer works. Those collections, based on the cultural concept and artistic taste of
Caibai, are representative of the greatest works of our age. By these collections, Caibai has
managed to record the artistic and social progresses of our age, enabling the cultural of jade
and jewelry to be passed down to the coming generations. China is a country which go through
thousands of years of history and profound culture; though the road forward might be hard, hope
of prosperity will always exist as long as there are people willing to take the responsibility.
