前 言
2009年，恰逢银版摄影术问世170周年，在这富有纪念意义的日子里，中国摄影家协会（CPA）迎来了中国第十三届国际摄影艺术展览（CIPAE）的举办。
摄影术传入中国大约在160多年前，当时拍摄活动仅局限于少数西方外交官、传教士和商贾，以及清朝宫廷的御用摄影师，摄影还是稀奇之物。斗转星移、沧海桑田，今天的中国，摄影艺术空前普及和繁荣，中国国际摄影艺术展览虽然只有20多年的历史，已成为目前世界上规模最大的摄影赛事之一。
本届影展，来自全球106个国家和地区的8395位摄影人踊跃参与，投寄摄影作品70566幅；其中境外参评人数2261人、作品18087幅，与历届相比均有成倍的增长。鉴于本届参评作品大幅增长，组委会决定增加入选作品名额。经过来自亚、非、欧、北美四大洲的7位国际摄影界的领军人物和中方评委共11位评委的悉心甄选，有49个国家和地区的摄影家分享了444个奖项。
中国第十三届国际影展，是今日世界摄影的缩影，作品的题材、风格以及使用的器材和介质是如此的先进和多样。纪实、艺术和商业摄影各显神通，红外、数码摄影等新手段令古老的银版摄影术望洋兴叹。这些作品让我们感受着摄影的艺术魅力和作为艺术手段的无限可能性，充分显示着创意的活力。
今天，我们在中国第十三届国际影展入选和获奖作品的基础上编撰出版影展作品集，一是为了弘扬各国优秀作品，提供各国摄影人学习和借鉴创作的经验；二是为了展示不同民族特色、不同创作观念的艺术风格，促进摄影艺术走向多元化；三也是为了纪念摄影术的发明，回顾摄影百余年演进，进一步认识摄影功效和本体特征。
综观中国第十三届国际影展作品集，可以明显地感到：各国摄影人通过精彩的画面，表达了追求世界和平、社会进步、人际和谐的共同愿望。同时也可以看到，当今世界摄影发展潮流多姿多彩，制作精益求精。传统黑白摄影继续显示出隽永魅力，现代数码摄影孜孜不倦探索时尚语言；发达国家摄影流派纷呈，新型国家民族风格强劲；老将锐气不减，新人脱颖而出……阅读本画册，可以管见21世纪世界摄影多元发展的繁荣格局，从中洞悉各国摄影家的睿智和才华。
发展中的中国，吸引着世界的眼光，我们会努力改进工作，更好地服务国内外摄影人，愿这个展览成为东西方摄影艺术对话的平台，全球摄影人智慧展示的窗口，世界不同文化交流的桥梁。
这项由中国主办的面向世界、并在世界范围内有着重要影响的摄影活动正在以其探索的精神吸引着更多的来自世界的目光，正在以其全新的面貌走向世界，走向更多的摄影人。

PREFACE
2009 is the 170th anniversary of the invention of the Dauguerreotype. Upon this memorable moment, China 13th International Photographic Art Exhibition (CIPAE) held by China Photographers Association (CPA) opens in passion.
Photography was introduced into China about 160 years ago, and was only used by a few Western diplomats, missionaries and merchants, as well as the photographers for the imperial family. Photography used to be rare and precious in the old times. After years of ups and downs, in the present China, it has been unprecedentedly prosperous and popular in all aspects. Though CIPAE has been conducted only for 2 decades, it becomes one of the biggest photographic events in the world.
In the 13th CIPAE, there are 8395 entrants from 106 countries and regions all over the world participated in the event, with up to 70566 entries submitted in total, 18087 of which are from 2261 entrants outside mainland, China. The figures in all aspects rocket, compared with the previous exhibitions. In accordance with the rapid growth of the quantity, the Organization Committee decided to increase the number of the accepted works. After a thorough assessment by 11 judges from Asia, Africa, Europe and North America, 444 works from 49 countries and regions were awarded. During the assessing period, CPA also held the International Photographic Summit Forum. As the leaders and representatives of the photographic societies in their countries, the 7 international judges sat together with Chinese photographers, sharing and exchanging ideas on the topic of “Motivation of Shooting and Value of Image”.
China 13th International Photographic Art Exhibition is a microcosm of the world’s photography up to date. With a wide range of themes and styles, all the displayed works show us the versatility of modern equipments and techniques. No matter whether the photo is realistic, artistic or commercial, it shows its power of expressing the photographer’s idea and perspective of life. On the other hand, infrared techniques, digital photography and etc. could certainly make the ancient Dauguerreotype photography awed.
Today, we are having this catalogue edited and published, which includes all the awarded and accepted works in the 13th CIPAE. First is to publicize the excellent works to the world, from which photographers can learn and improve their own photographic skills; secondly, we aim to show the features of different nations and various art styles so as to enhance the diversity of photography art; thirdly, the accomplishment of this catalogue is also to memorize the invention of photography, to look back the past 170 years of its development, and have a further understanding of the value and basic characteristics of photography. These photos demonstrate the energy of creativity, from which we feel the charm of photography and infinite possibility it can provide as an artistic method.
Flicking through the catalogue, you can feel the common desire of world peace, progress of the society, and the harmony of human beings shared by all the photographers, as their photos can talk much more than words. Also, from the catalogue, you can see the trend of world photography and the superior technique of its production. Traditional black and white photography is still popular, while modern digital photography is continuously searching for fashionable symbols; a variety of genres and style stand out in the countries with longer history in photography, while the others present the uniqueness of their nations; the experienced photographers keep moving forward, while the newcomers win their reputation by hard working…From the catalogue, you will have a glimpse of the prosperity of the diversified world photography in 21st century, and feel the wisdom and talents of photographers with different cultural backgrounds.
The developing China attracts attention from the world; therefore we are striving to improve our works, and to bring a better service to the photographers from home and abroad. We hope this exhibition can be an effective platform for the dialog between eastern and western photographic art, a display of photographers’ talents, and a bridge between different cultures.
This photographic event now enjoying its fame worldwide is moving on to meet the world and more photographers with a new look. By the means of constant discovering, CIPAE, the grand photographic art event held by China, is going to draw more and more attentions from the globe.
