序 Preface
我和瑞增先生只有一面之交，几年过去，他的容貌几乎已经忘记了，但这个人却始终令人难以忘怀。记得那次我是应中国宋庆龄基金会等单位之请，参加一个旨在劝阻中小学生吸烟的公益活动，口号是：无烟的花季更美好。出席活动开幕式时才发现，主办单位名录中，赫然写着“国家烟草专卖局”，为这，便觉得这活动更是双倍的美好了。随后就结识了这一活动的倡导者和组织者、在烟草专卖局担任要职的瑞增先生，继而又知道那动人口号提出者，竟也是他。
接触是短暂的，瑞增先生却因其宽厚热诚的仁爱之心和儒雅俊逸的文人气质令我久久难忘，以至朋友拿来他新近结集成册的摄影作品集，转述他请我作序的嘱托时，我竟不觉意外。回想起来，在朋友圈中，“其学无所不窥”者当然不过凤毛麟角，但涉猎广泛、杂学旁收者还是颇有一些的。他们每每都是某一领域的“拔尖”人物，或任要职，或在某一领域头角峥嵘，然而他们都爱好广泛，特别是对文学艺术，有着很好的素养与天赋，可以想见，如果当年干了这行当，肯定也是一位叱咤风云的人物呢。
这种感觉，在翻看瑞增先生这本题名为《天地放歌》的摄影作品集时，又一次升到心头。
我对摄影，虽然爱好，年轻时亦有过“发烧”之举，但毕竟没有经过专业训练，因此为一本摄影作品集作序，心里难免惴惴然。转念一想，作为一个欣赏者，坦言观后的直感又何尝不可？我对瑞增先生的摄影作品以及和这些作品一起发表的文字是喜欢的。瑞增先生的镜头里留下的景致，有些我也曾驻足，没有想到，通过瑞增先生的再创造，竟给我带来了重新翻看这个世界的欣喜，带来了异样的、新颖的审美体验。而另外一部分作品，因为以美妙独特的画面，带着我们进入一个陌生的境地，更是引发了我心向往之的渴待。以我粗浅的感受，不管是作家还是艺术家，不管你用什么方式来表现生活，也不管你是专业还是业余，只要作品中融入了你的真情感真忧欢，展示了你的真性情真体悟，为我们带来真感动真愉悦，你的作品就进入了真正的艺术境界。
瑞增先生的摄影，应该是进入这一境界的。
一个人，可能是一个官员，也可能是一个职员，可能是一个富商，也可能是一个打工者，然而现在你忽然发现，这官员，可能又是一个作家；这职员，可能又是一个画家；这打工者，甚至可能又是一个时时到电视剧里“票”一场的业余演员……当下中国，这种追求全面发展的人物是越来越多了。我以为，这是一个“以人为本”的社会发展的必然趋势。这感慨，亦由瑞增先生而来。我知道，瑞增先生是一位敬业勤勉的公务员，奔波劳碌，政绩颇丰，但并不妨碍他向艺术的高峰攀登，乃致达到如此高超的境界。或许，在许多人看来，这不过是一种业余爱好，我却认为，这种对精神魅力的追求，对艺术境界的向往倘若蔚然成风，应该可以视作改革开放以后中国崭新人格发展的曙光吧。

Despite only meeting Ruizeng once and several years ago，his personality left a very deep impression on me. I met Ruizeng when the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation invited me to participate in a Youth Smoking Prevention program. The slogan of this program was“A better life for young people without smoking”When I attended the opening ceremony，I found that the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) was one of the sponsors and for me this enhanced the significance of the program. I was further told that Ruizeng held a key position in the STMA and was the main initiator and organizer of the program；he even created the impressive slogan.
Since this brief meeting with Ruizeng，it has been difficult to forget his kindheartedness as well as his exceptional temperament. Consequently，I was not surprised when my friend asked me to write a preface on Ruizeng’s recent publication of photography works. Although a limited number of my friends have a deep understanding of many fields，there are a few who have a broad understanding of a wide variety of areas. They tend to be outstanding in a particular area or assume a key position. They also often have extensive interests，especially in literature and art as well as impressive qualification and talent. I believe that if they were to choose their interest as a career，they could be equally outstanding.
This feeling came to mind when I read Ruizeng’s photography works Singing in the Earth.
I enjoy photography and had a passion for it in my youth but I have never had any professional training. I questioned whether I was suitably qualified to write a preface for the photography works. However，I decided that it might be good to offer my opinion from the perspective of an admirer. I really appreciate Ruizeng’s photography works and the captions alongside the pictures. I have visited some of the places which are brilliantly captured in Ruizeng’s photographs. This gave me the opportunity to review such places but from a different and fresh perspective. In terms of the photographs of places I had not visited，showing beautiful and unique views，I was introduced to a new world and my desire to go and see them was increased.
As far as I am concerned，the value of ones work is not dependent on whether one is a writer or an artist，how one currently lives their life or whether one is a professional. The key to captivating your audience and producing a meaningful piece of art is to produce work that truly reflects your feelings，temperament and learning；Ruizeng’s photography works certainly satisfy this.
In life there are many professions；one might be a government official，or a company staff member，or a businessman，or a part-time employee. Indeed，nowadays people tend to have multiple professions. For example，a government official might also be a writer，a company staff member might also be a painter or a part-time employee might also be an actor/actress. In china more and more people are looking to develop in multiple areas，which I believe is an exciting trend in the social development of a society. I am aware that Ruizeng is a diligent civil servant，who has an extremely busy working life and achieves a high level of performance. However，this has not prevented him from producing exceptional works of art. Although perhaps for many people the arts are merely a hobby to fill spare time，I feel that the simultaneous pursuit of spiritual charm and art should be regarded as progress in the development of the new Chinese personality since the beginning of the reform and opening up period.
